    TSD Training Tips!

This week's TSD training tip is a great little drill I picked up from my friends at TDI.  A great drill for any level of shooter! 4 Shot Skills Drill https://www.youtube.com/embed/p5nvhP4iMSQ?feature=oembed

    TSD Training Tips!

Have you ever heard of the "thumbs forward grip"?  What's the advantage?  Why use it?  TSD teaches not just HOW, but WHY we use a specific technique.  It allows for a better understanding by our students. Here's a little explanation from Tactical Skills Development. TSD on the thumbs forward...

    Glock gen 5

I haven't heard anything, but in my opinion the Gen 4 is about perfect.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

    Best Suppressor Cover?

I'm on the hunt for a suppressor cover for my SilencerCo Specwar 556K.  I use it more on my primary fighting rifle than on my SPR.  That said, I'm trying to find a good cover that will hold up to some semi-rapid fire use more than just a few slow strings to avoid mirage like on a bolt gun or...

    Range backpacks

I used to use a 5.11 range bag, which was a great bad.  The down side is it was so big it would get real heavy real fast.  Carrying it from stage to stage at USPSA matches was brutal.  I switched to a GPS Tactical backpack.  It's awesome.  Dedicated compartment for handguns with 3 individual...

    Tyr triggers for Glocks

Never used that particular brand.  I run a Zev/Glockworx trigger in my G34 competition gun and have been VERY pleased with it.  Carry gun is just a Glockworx V4 race connector and heavy trigger spring.  Hard to keep track of everybody making Glock triggers now days.

What modifications do you make to your Glocks?

New good metal sights with a squared off edge on the back sight (non-novak style) is an absolute must.  If you try to break open a stuck slide with the factory sights or run 1 handed manipulation drills you'll pop the junk plastic factory sight right out of the dovetail.  I opt for either...

    Rest Area Carry Changes

T.L Jones can correct me if I'm wrong, but the wording in bold covers all buildings that are part of the rest facility, not just the bathroom at a rest stop.  Bathroom only would be more like the bathroom in a Ohio State Park.  I can carry into the restroom or a shelter house, but not the main...

What position do you cary concealed in?

My carry position is somewhat dependent on the clothing I am wearing that day.  Generally it's IWB in the 3o'clock position.  I also carry in the appendix position quite a bit with my slimmer guns.  Finally, if max concealment is needed I'll pocket carry.  I like strong side the best, but find...

Best way to safely store your firearms

You got that right.  I'm not sure what kind of standard the people use that determine how many guns a safe can hold, but they must use all un-scoped lever actions and a whole lot of handguns!  My 39 gun doesn't hold nearly 39 guns unless it's a whole bunch of pistols.

Best way to safely store your firearms

Agreed.  While there are some smaller safes in the $200-$400 range, if that isn't doable right now T.L. said it right.  10 or 12ga. steel won't keep out a dedicated thief or protect against fire but should work fine for kids.  Just remember anything that is key access only without an additional...

    Defensive shooting skills class

Randy, If I were in the Akron area I would look at one of Chris Cerino's classes. He's a good guy and knows his stuff. Best thing I found in that area.

    Defensive shooting skills class

Randy, unfortunately I don't know any off the top of my head. I'll have to do some research to see who's any good in the Akron area.

    Hog hunting round....

I suppose this falls under long Gun talk. My brother in law has land in Vinton county (South Eastern Ohio) with quite a few wild hogs on it. We might be making a trip down to eliminate a few and was curious if anyone with experience could offer a suggestion. Would I be better off with my...

The most important election of our time for the second amendment

Perhaps...but I recall the same statements in the last two election. "Now is not the time...." Brings to mind the quote, "If not me, who? If not now, when?"

    100m rifle workout

While exercising before shooting to elevate your breathing and heart rate are nothing new, I've found this to be one of my favorites. It's simple, and hugely effective at showing where your ability is. If I could do this workout everyday I'd be in WAY better shape! Not a ton of ammo used and...
