Charles Daly bought a bunch from Zastava. They were manufacturing "mini Mausers" in 7.62x39 and .223.
They made some 98 actioned Mausers - Remington bought Daly out and marketed the 98s as "Remington 798"

I bought one of the 7.62 barreled actions and built it for my then 11 year old. Nice little gun, here's a deer I shot with it two years ago. View attachment 102385
That is exactly what I would like.

It's been awhile since I researched it, but I remember that I give a bit of preference to the JLD stuff over the newer PTRs. Also, it's just MO, but I like that the JLD stuff is a little more rare...you know I like stuff that no one else has...

Another Hesse fit weld job-------------------------------

View attachment 102394

I especially like the fact that "weld" in any form or reference is not mentioned in the ad.

After I straightened out the bends in the receiver and heat treated it again, my Hesse is probably one of the smoothest operating AKs I have owned. Still I wouldn't pay near $600 for one....
