I got one like yours about ten years ago for $125. I did not want to pay that but I did. Asked all kind of questions about it on the forums. Mine is blued, but the horizontal restamped numbers are are very unusual.

I really have forgot all this stuff, but it is comming back. In order to see what was once thought of as an east German DDR refurb mark you must take it out of the stock and look under the serial number for a large triangle stamp

Sorry I don’t follow do you mean you think it’s been repainted? The guy I bought it from said he picked it up with all the cosmoline on it and had the original box etc

That is normal for that one like that.
I had one just like it and it is a referbished SKS, that paint look is normal and it flakes off a little over time.

Look close, could be covered by paint. On the flip side, tube looks good. Not rusted thru.
