Afghanistan was way more stand up gunfights in the bush. I rarely had to seriously enter and clear structures like I did in iraq. The mud huts are small and simple, had to hit a couple mosques etc but usually the villages were emptied out and the Talib faught from the woodlines.

I shoot better resting my rifle in my support hand traditional style than using a vert as either a grip or a reference. it wasn’t uncommon to do 6 mile Humps. Ounces equal pounds. I streamlined my rifle in Afghanistan. PEQ-15 is up front. ACOG and back up irons.

during my 2 deployments to Iraq, SADR and Nassiriya, I hit WAY more houses, buildings, apartments etc. in and out of vics and turret work so I had a vert grip those 2 trips.
