I normally dont recommend cheaper guns, but I got to try out some Tristar shotguns last year. They were surprisingly well made, and were very easy to hit clays with. Even their semi-automatics ran great, which I cant say about mossberg.

I've heard good things about those as well. Never had my hands on one though.

Well the only ones I can find local for sale are the CZ Drake, Stoeger Condor and Mossberg Silver Reserve. Gonna go fondle them if I get the time.

I only made it to page 3 before I opened up a new window and started looking for another non-HD shotty. I forgot how much I enjoy shooting 5 stand and sporting clays until this thread. Thanks @Leshaire....and before @Hayata says anything I didn't limp wrist the damn shotgun at Wolf Creek. It was a rental gun and it sucked. :p

I would say Remington 1100 if it's a Mossberg 930 or 11/87. I've heard a lot of good out of Tristar too never shot one though

Nice one @FatAlbert btw

@Leshaire this is a pretty good deal. I'd prefer the remchoke barrel, but honestly I could leave the improved cylinder in my gun and be happy with pretty much everything I'd ever do with it. I don't think you'd have a bit of trouble getting your money back out of this if you decide it's not for you. If you could get this for $300 I'd call it a steal.

Go pawn shop hoping for a few. Hell, I picked an old bolt action shotgun up one time for $50 in one. Never know what you will find and many will barter on price.

That's a good deal but if you're really getting into sporting clays you're going to want to change chokes at some point. You'll see some pretty long shots on some courses
Edit: nvm just saw it was already sold.

Chances are you're going to love shooting clays so much the gun won't even matter at first. Once you go a few times and try a couple guns, then you'll really know what you want.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. I've shot before a couple times with some family in Louisiana. An old pump 410 and a pump 12. No idea what guns they were, what chokes, or what type of ammo... but that shit was a blast haha. I think I'll be alright with the Stoeger for now.

Man, all this sporting clays talk is making me miss it. I need to go again. Rabbits are by far my favorite.

Yeah, if you shot clays with a pump, anything will be a vast improvement.
