How often do you clean your guns?

Now that I think about it- I really need to clean the lint out of the nightsights on my G26. I wish someone would make nightsights with flush set vials so there would be no recess to collect lint on a carry gun.

    Keep it or Sell it?

It was what came to mind when I was thinking of factory barrels.... I guess someone may want a spare, but that's not worth much money.

TruPrep Reloading Class **Sign up now**

How'd the class go? I'm glad you're getting folks into reloading... it's a great way to learn about the sport and really learn how ammo works.

AR lubrication: thin film of oil or dripping wet?

I used Hoppe's Gun Grease years ago on slide rails and other places- in 10/22's around the bolt even. Well, after taking one of those seldom shot pistols and a seldom shot 10/22 out of the safe... the slide stuck back and the 10/22 bolt stuck back. The Hoppe's gun grease had turned into dark...

    Keep it or Sell it?

I'd keep it. Mostly because if you decided to sell the pistol down the road, you could sell the pistol with the non-threaded barrel. The threaded barrel should be easy to sell on it's own. I kind of doubt the factory non-threaded barrel is worth very much- most pistols already have barrels.

AK lubrication: thin film of oil or dripping wet?

I thought you just threw in some dirty motor oil once a year, after you change the oil in the old Mercedes.

Thought for the day: shooting a grenade

I'll bring beer and a video camera.

Thought for the day: shooting a grenade

I think the impulse off of that kind of explosive is too fast to care about a hole in part of the casing. It might not be "as" effective, but I'm imagining still 80%+ effective. This speculation is brought to you by someone with no working knowledge of grenades.

How often do you clean your guns?

Depends on the gun... Blued MK II, shot in the summer (i.e. exposed to my sweat)... must be cleaned in 12 hours or less to prevent rust. Glocks... not required. Clean occasionally- especially the hosts. Those suppressors are dirt injectors as far as the pistol is concerned. Bolt guns...

AR lubrication: thin film of oil or dripping wet?

Drop of oil in the cam pin hole, drop around the bolt/carrier interface, light wipe on the locking lugs, drop on the extractor area... And if I'm feeling randy, maybe a little drip in the firing pin hole.

    My first AR build up

I might be free on Friday- kid weekend, so I'll have to work around picking them up- or just bring them along.

    My first AR build up

Make time after work one day and we can shoot some video out at the gun club. I can bring my gas blasting bastard AR for a comparison. I've got a digital video camera and tripod, I'll just have to learn how it works.

    Cleaning a Supressor

I have one... I had trouble the first time I cleaned it, but it was because I forgot the monocore was threaded into the tube still.... turns out you can't just unscrew the end cap and push the middle out. I think- damn now I can't remember.

    Best Plate Carrier?

Damn that looks like a great deal- I didn't know about it and don't have enough time to figure out all the details. Some armor has been on my list lately because it seems like a prime item on President Hillary's ban list. And should push come to shove, there's nothing like not getting shot...

    The Bad Ol' Days

I don't recall all the prices, but I did put 10 new windowed 3o round PMAGs on gunbroker... new gunbroker account, no feedback. I had a guy use the 'buy it now' I'd set at $499. He overnighted me a cashier's check for the price plus twenty bucks shipping. Well, the check didn't show up the...

    Recipe Watermelon

Watermelon is cheap enough to experiment with :) I'd feel really bad making Waygu beef taste bad, but I'll go to town on some watermelon!

    Recipe Watermelon

Some fast, high heat is good on most sugar rich fruit... I wouldn't leave it on the grill for five minutes or anything, but a really hot grill for one or two minutes should make some nice grill marks. Add the watermelon flavor to the crunchy, sweet caramelized sugar... could be good...

    Recipe Watermelon

Grilled is probably pretty good so long as the grill is hot as hell and the watermelon doesn't sit on there too long. I grilled some pineapple a month or so back- it was OK but dried out too much and got really sour instead of sweet. I dehydrated it and concentrated way too much pineapple...
