GMC Sierra - My tinker truck

Good plan there- I keep empty lunch meat containers (i.e. "tupperware") and dump all the hardware in there... I can usually remember which container goes with which machine LOL.

    Took a chance today.

I agree- the darn barrels seem to be the budget killer. Once you buy the barrel and BCG, there's not much cash left for the upper, barrel nut, hand guard, etc. I mean darn it PSA- I can buy a complete AR upper for sub $300 from time to time... I'd be over $200 into just the barrel and BCG.

    Took a chance today.

Nice! I cheated on my 5.56 pistol... bought the upper, slapped it on a pistol lower. I did "build" the lower from a stripped (new) receiver. Later I took the barrel off the upper to put a long rail on it. Still cycled fine though. I've never held it close enough to my face to see if it's a...

GMC Sierra - My tinker truck

I think I have to let a project lay around for a week or two before I finish it. I can't imagine knowing exactly where every screw, nut, and bolt came from... and where it goes when I get around to putting it back together.

Nice! I'm sure it will look good-

GMC Sierra - My tinker truck

Looks great- much more "modern" as some might say ;) The color match trim is a kind of pricey option at the dealer. Pop the plastic inserts out of the rear view mirrors and do them next.

    $508 budget build

Ouch... with that said, the Anderson's I've put together have had no issues at all- although I've read some problems from other folks.

    $508 budget build

Now that you mention it, I remember something to this effect before... Well, at least the logo looks good? :) Sounds like major QC issues related to that lower.

    $508 budget build

Looking good so far! Great for a low budget build (with a Noveske lower!).

    80% Lower Build PArty

I will say this guy's tools and shop make me look like an 18 year old with a belt sander and a hacksaw.

    80% Lower Build PArty

Agreed- I'd rather and saw it into three pieces than sell it with the required information. I was interested the 80% lowers just for the learning aspect originally. I agree that it's not worth the money to buy an 80% when it's literally cheaper to buy a finished lower with SN. But I can...

    80% Lower Build PArty

The one thing I'd mention here is the drill bits/cutters that come with most jigs are freaking terrible. If you were planning on cutting several lowers, I would either have a new good quality bit(s)/end mill(s) or a way to sharpen the ones being used. There's no doubt that the used bits will...

    80% Lower Build PArty

Ok- that looks great. I've got to go delete some pictures from my thread now ;)

    80% Lower Build PArty

There are a few options in the $60 range (not including tax/shipping/etc): https://www.80-lower.com/ http://daytonatactical.com/products/80-ar15-lower-receiver Ok- $39.99, best I can do on short notice...

    80% Lower Build PArty

I forgot the point of that previous post... If this gets planned and I'm not able to make it, I'll mail the jig to somebody that's going. An extra jig would make life easier.

    80% Lower Build PArty

I did one awhile back- really just as an educational exercise... it was an interesting project. Although that lower is still sitting in a box somewhere, untouched since I did the final fitting. Thread: http://www.southeasttraders.com/threads/finishing-an-80-lower-on-a-drill-press.2525/

    AR slings

I'll grab a picture later today- but it's just a plain old web sling. It carries ok over the shoulder but the big plus for me is being able to get it wrapped around my arm for a "hasty sling" to stabilize the rifle. Makes a huge difference in my opinion.
