This was another part that bothered me, the intent is assumed (arson is a felony regardless). If it wasn't thrown at him or the group he was with then i sounds like a immature hot headed kid (who should never be in the position he put himself in) panicked and started shooting. The kid took a bad situation and escalated it a fuckload
At the end of the day we weren’t there and don’t really know all the facts. So it’s hard to even make a determination of who was in the right and who was not

Well the biggest issue I would have as a juror (I don't even play one on TV, though) is what the hell was he doing there. This was not the 1st night of rioting. It's not like he went armed to a pro-2A rally & a riot broke out. He willingly loaded up a weapon & knowingly drove to an area experiencing civil breakdown. Nothing illegal about that, but I think a jury would want to know what he was thinking.
