I agree waste of money.
my argument was infantry has proven time and time again modern engagements happen within that 300m bubble. Sure maybe we stretch that one day, but with the current environment we exist in and the modern day threat of insurgency im
Not seeing the use for infantry to engage out to 800m on a basis often enough to warrant a full caliber shift within the armed forces.

all my 11Bs like “I’m pretty much a sniper”

Well, as one of our local snipers here pointed out, there's energy to consider. You certainly know more about this, I'm just a couch warrior, but is it possible they're trying to not just stretch the range, but also give more horsepower at closer engagement distances to deny cover, penetrate barriers/vests/vehicles?

They very well may be, I don’t know the difference in kinetic energy off hand between the 6.8 and 5.56 I’ve just known it’s always been famed for its trajectory and distance in comparison

From what I gather, they want a balance of power and weight. 308 is too heavy, 6mm is in that sweet spot.

Searched and found this video of a retoration of a former Iraqi T-54. They start up a replacemnt V12 diesel - by using a large compressed CO2 tank to turn it over, based on what they say. Didn't know that they used this starting system. Once it fires up, it fills the workshop with exhaust to the point that you can't see them anymore.

My dad spent a part of his service in tanker corp. I got to play in some of his equipment, but he had T72 and T80 when I was old enough.
My information is what a 15 year old picked up in the barracks.
