Extreme Round Count Failure Points on Your Favorite Weapons Platforms

I'll freely admit, I've never even heard of a gas tube melting.

Extreme Round Count Failure Points on Your Favorite Weapons Platforms

My YouTube threshold is about 90 seconds......unless it's a clip from Squidbillies or Archer. Hell, there's a YouTube video of me teaching a class that's about 1hr 42mins long. It's been on there for several years, I've never watched more than 3 minutes of it.

Can I swap my 9mm AR from Colt mags to Glock mags?

That wouldn't work for me because I don't use 33rd mags in my Glocks. The highest capacity I use are 17 rounds and I'm not going to give up my 32rd Colt mags and use 17rd Glock mags just to have common mags. Mine is select-fire, so I can chew through some ammo. Even if it were semi-auto, I...

Can I swap my 9mm AR from Colt mags to Glock mags?

I have a select-fire Colt 9mm SMG. I wouldn't swap mags, she runs great on the old Colt mags. I have a bunch of C-Products mags as well. I had to weed a couple of duds out of those; sent them back for an exchange and the replacements work great.

    AR Mags

I have a dozen Maklarbak TTC mags that I've been testing the hell out of for over a year now. No issues in any firearm I've tried them in, including an M249 SAW. I'm not going to replace all my mags with them, but it's a well thought out design that works exactly as intended.

The BS of "10 mags per Gun"

I've worn out and replaced mag springs on Glocks, SIG's, Beretta's, 1911's, and more. Also AR mags and I've had AK mags that used to work go bad on me. In all those cases, a new mag spring and I was back in business. Sometimes I have to replace a baseplate or follower as well. I keep spare mag...

The BS of "10 mags per Gun"

I have 10 or more mags for everything but 1. Last I checked, for my M4's I have about 50. SAI SOCOM-16: 20 SIG 556xi Russian (takes AK mags): 32 Handguns very from 12-20, depending on the platform. The lone exception is my Beretta 76 .22 target pistol. I've got 3.5 mags for it. 1...

AK lubrication: thin film of oil or dripping wet?

Most of the aperture sights just replace the standard rear, so no extra sight radius. You could get something like a Texas Dogleg mount with a BUIS.

There are several companies that make an aperture replacement sight for the AK. Just Google it and you'll come up with a selection.

AK lubrication: thin film of oil or dripping wet?

You can clean with it, since it has ATF in it, but here's what I mix up for dedicated cleaner: 1 part Dexron II, IIe or III ATF 1 part kerosene, deodorized K1 1 part Aliphatic Mineral Spirits (odorless mineral spirits, Stoddard Solvent, Varsol) 1 part Acetone Optional: up to 1lb Lanolin...

AK lubrication: thin film of oil or dripping wet?

2 quarts synthetic motor oil 1 quart automatic transmission fluid. Brand and spec don't matter. 1 bottle of original STP. The blue bottle. 1 7 oz. jar of Hoppe's #9 Lubed everything from single-action revolvers to belt fed MG's with this. Great stuff and slicker n' snot on a doorknob.

AK lubrication: thin film of oil or dripping wet?

I like the "grease for sliding parts, oil for rotating parts" mantra, but don't think it's all that important. I've lubed semi-auto handguns with all grease and I've done them with all oil. Never had a problem either way. The most important thing is that you LUBE the moving parts.

    Where do you usually shoot?

I have several outdoor ranges I use, but most are not open to the public. The exception is the 1,000 yard range at Elk River Training Center in Pelham TN. It's a membership-type of place, so anyone can sign up and pay.

You're not a real Marine if you don't drink CLP and use Cosmoline for mustache wax.

    AR Mags

I prefer the 30rd PMags, I don't care what Gen they are or if they have the window or not. $19.95 is too much for a PMag. Companies like DSG Arms have regular sales for around $9 each, and sometimes shipping is covered.

AK lubrication: thin film of oil or dripping wet?

In many of the Third World countries I was at in the Corps, when the locals bothered to clean and lube their AK's, they usually used diesel fuel to clean and left some on the gun for lube. Another lube I've seen them use was to pull the dipstick out of a truck and use the oil off of that.

Other than Frog Lube, I'll use any firearms or automotive lubricant, grease or oil. My favorite is the home brew oil I mix up, and Mobil 1 synthetic automotive grease.
