Duty/carry guns get cleaned before I carry them. Guns I use shooting demos in classes get cleaned before the class. Precision rifle bores get cleaned within 3 days of use. Other than that, I don't clean them much if they're still functioning.

I use more lube than most folks. Grease and oil.

For LEO's, it's quite a bit different. In my street cops days, I didn't think twice about slinging up a shotgun/rifle/carbine/SMG to handle a call I thought might warrant it. Civilians don't realistically have that option. Whenever I had the option, I always went heavy.
