How much light is too much?

For indoors, you don't need more than 200 lumens. A bit more than that won't hurt. Too much splashback off of white walls, glass in picture frames, mirrors, stainless steel appliances, etc. Been there, done that...... I routinely run white lights that are more powerful than 200 lumens, but...

    Poly or Alum?

If you decide you wanna go poly, make sure you get one with steel inserts at the pin holes, and a metal-reinforced collar where the receiver extension (aka buffer tube) attaches.

    Break in

Give a good cleaning before you fire for the first time. No telling what kinda trash is in the barrel from manufacturing, test-firing, storage and shipping. 1. Fire 1 round and clean for the first 5 rounds. 2. Fire 5 and clean for the next 20-25rds. 3. Fire 20rds and inspect. If it...

    BCM rifle quality, durability, accuracy?

I've had plenty of students running BCM carbines. The ones that bought a complete, ready-to-run carbine had no issues. I wouldn't hesitate to use one.

    Competency-based Handgun & Lowlight Tactics

Max of 20. The drills are a lot less involved than the Carbine Teamwork, and we usually run 2 relays instead of bunches of 2-person teams. So, more trigger time.

    Rifle Dynamics DMR is dooope

There are numerous companies listing a carbine/rifle with an AR upper and a lower that takes AK mags. PSA, CMMG, RRA, and MGI come to mind. Probably a few more. Another option is the SIG 556R/556xi Russian. I had a 16.5" 556R, that I replaced with a 10" 556xi Russian. Better ergonomics...

    The rig I run

They are handy. When you don't need it, they roll/fold up quite small, so they're out of the way.

    The rig I run

The belt is a 2-part system. The inner belt I wear like any other pants belt; through my belt loops, and it has the fuzzy part (aka the "loop") of Velcro on the outside. The outer belt is much stiffer and heavier, hand-sewn from scuba webbing, and has the "hook" part of Velcro on the inside...

AAR: Combat Carbine Teamwork by Precision Applications

Nothing wrong with that, it's a viable option. Tactics and techniques is a game of pros and cons. What I was concerned was with the buttstock in my support shoulder, and wearing hard plates, when I started using that support arm and making motions with it; how well was my buttstock going to...

AAR: Combat Carbine Teamwork by Precision Applications

That was it! I was shooting on the support side of cover and tried to do a "left-handed" reload. My right hand couldn't reach my spare mags on my belt with my plate carrier on. I had to swap my carbine back to strong-side, reload, and transition back to support-side. Too much time and...

    The rig I run

I get asked a lot about what rig and components I run when Instructing, specifically Carbine (AR or AK) or Shotgun. I thought I'd lay everything out, label it and go over it. The rig is modular. The only thing that stays the same from course to course is the belt (inner and outer), the...

AAR: Combat Carbine Teamwork by Precision Applications

The Blue Force Gear Vickers sling is what I use in a 2-point....has the features you're referring to. You'll buy the gear you THINK will work for you. Then you run it a while, and find it doesn't work for you. So, you sell it as a loss and buy something else. Repeat numerous times u til...
