Well the ammo shortage has certainly not ended here but I did just buy 500 Thunderbolt .22 long rifle for $48 at LGS. Is that too high? IMO, yes it is. I never dreamed I would pay a dime a round for .22 ammo and be glad I found it.

Me too. My wife is a teacher and I would prefer an armed person on each floor. Even if it is a teacher that is paid a little extra to go through some training.

If it stops raining later today, I plan to carry the Mini 14 out back and find out what I can do with it using the iron peep sight. I then plan to carry it back in along with a fair amount of spent brass casings. ;D Of course, I will also be carrying the LCP in the right front pocket.

I know why you moved to suburbia. There are a lot of good reasons. I have thought about it plenty when I am mowing, running the bush hog, cutting wood, etc. Then I get a little time and run a few hundred rounds of ammo through one of the guns and decide to stay for one more year.

Decided to give the .22 longs another try. Gave the 10/22 a thorough clean & lube and tried the .22 longs again. Same result. About a 50% success rate. I will not be in the market for more longs.

Sarge, or anyone else, any thoughts on using the higher rise scope rings so you can still use iron sights? Most of my scoped guns are bolt action and don't even have sights so I have never used these. I like the idea of it though.

Well here is the good news. I took 400 of the 500 rounds back to the new gun shop where I bought it and they traded me for some Federal. I looked at the box. It actually says long rifle. So I have some ammo for my .22 rifles and pistols. I still went to 2 Walmarts and 1 Meijer today. Saw a grand...
