I dread when the time comes.
We have an 80 gal heater.
If we follow law. We can only replace with a 50 gal. That will make our heated jacuzzi tub worthless.

Could you run two 50's (or 40's) in parallel when you replace? Is one of those fancy instantaneous water heaters an option?

My neighbor building a monster sizesd house went with the instant hot water thing.
Natural gas in a box of stainless piping about 3'x3'x1'.
Haven't seen it yet, just heard all about it yapping a week or so ago.
I'll wait til he's done and moved in and go see it.

We are all electric. Not sure how well that’ll work.

Never thought about 2 in parallel. But tankless may be an option.

50 gallon with a booster is supposed to be the equivalent of an 80 gallon.

It has it's positives and negatives I suppose.

You run the water heater a hotter temp which kills more bacteria supposedly. I can tell you my shower stays cleaner after the replacement. Now if that's just bc it's brand new or if it's bc the higher temp, I can't answer that.

Good to know.
My house is now 13 years old, so the water heater can’t last too much longer.
But I’d like to put it off as long as possible.

My dad had a heart attack today. Emory Eastside hospital put 3 stints in and couldn't get his blood pressure up so they transferred him to Piedmont. He's in the cardiac ICU right now. Looking like they're gonna have to do a bypass. Prayers would be appreciated.
