Yeah I saw that post finally. I do have some old soft body armor, it's Army issue size small, but it won't fit in a plate carrier... my question is, do you think that I could cut down the soft body armor and re sew or even glue it back together? I'm looking for something that would be a low threat or training type rig, and I want to get some sort of use out of this soft body armor. I'll post some pictures in a few minutes.
Not sure man I’ve never tried to cut up Kevlar woven stuff, @CQB27

But I’m with you on the soft armor low threat rigs, especially if they have the capability to slide a set of plates in when you want. Lemme see if I can find the ones I was looking at.

And with steel you can pull them out of the Carrier and target practice with them, joking, but you know what I mean. When I think apocalyptic I think longevity.
Well, I'm too old to last 30 more years anyway (& hav zero moniez for buying armor now) but when I can the weight savings make the call for the fat old guy who had a stroke. & yes I understand about mobility being better. But I am biologically not very mobile anymore, so...….. And as far as steel lasting longer, I figure if you survive that long into the apocalypse, they'll be dead guys you can take steel plates off of.

But I'm a morbid son of a bitch. I gots no problems with using some dead guy's stuff. I mean, I'm the guy in the prepper discussion about not letting people online know about your hidden caches admitted my plan was to give out fake cache locations online & ambush MFers who should up to raid the. Less digging for an old man that way.

Cutting Kevlar is damn hard to do. You will have cut open the outer sheath and separate the layers down to single ply to cut it. It will probably wear out several sets of shears in the process. I have seen attempted before and it turned out to be a mess.

check our Beez Combat. They make carries to fit the Army stuff.

if you can’t find soft armor carrier, they will also make a custom carrier to fit your soft armor
