What are the possible negatives? I can't imagine one.

I kinda agree with Laufen, Im all about letting kids play with what they want to.

Hell, when I was a kid it wasnt uncommon when I would play with my sister our toys would get mixed in together. there were several makor battles between GI Joe and My little pony.

OMG!!! These racists have hair straightener and Jerry Curl next to each other. Why don't they mix it in with the shampoos for blonds?

Holy crap! I just found out they label their bathrooms based on gender as well!

Do you know a lot of blondes that buy hair straightener and Jerry Curl? I don't. I do know that it's a good idea to just let kids sort out what type of bedding they might want, even if the colors aren't pre-described as being appropriate for a specific sex.
I don't like to be shoved into a camp with whom I'm supposed to identify either.

Your first sentence makes my point for me. Thanks

Labeling things by gender for personal care products is fine, makes finding what I need easier. Toys I understand removing the labels.

Is it because they might want to, but feel like they can't/shouldn't....or that they simply don't want or need it?

Should they put all clothing in one section as well? Its a matter of convenience.

No! You're not supposed to look at the world in a nuanced way....back to the Matrix with you!

No, personal care stuff and clothing should still be separated. It's mostly the toys/books/movies,etc... I'm OK with not labeling.

Do you require certain anatomically crafted sheets and quilts for a man?

I remember very clearly when my daughter was 4 years old, and really wanted to buy a stick pony and cowboy set. They were in the boys section, and she said she felt like she wasn't supposed to like "cowboy" stuff and it made her upset that she did. She said she didn't like barbies and she just wanted to ride ponies.

Putting bras and women's underwear in a specific section makes sense in a way that segregating toys or bedding for kids based on color does not. It's really very simple to understand why.

So its wrong to have target markets and to put toys together with other toys that marketing studies show to be complimentary. Got it.
