I have seen a few frames snap. It's pretty wild.
I grew up with carbs, so it wasn't a big deal for me personally. When it came to racing, it was a small handicap, not a big one, because the talent level in that division was a big drop. You could beat better bikes by skill alone. In the 600cc and up classes, that wasn't the case.
