My wife and I were talking about doing another aquarium, but keep putting it off since we're always away. Almost pulled the trigger on a sweet deal on a 250 gal bow-front salt setup, but after looking at the filtration costs, didn't do it
Initial costs can be spendy for sure. This tank is nice but came about bc the 40G I had was leaking. Transferring everything was a pain, it's a lot easier to start from scratch.

I've only done fresh water, but they can be labor intensive. But i did like having cichlids and some of the other meat eaters.
Saltwater is easier maintenance as I understand it. Once the tank is established, I don't do water changes. I don't think I ever did a water change in the 40.

SHRIMPBURGERS, you go @DeanMoriarty
Speaking of shrimp, I put one in the tank about 3 or 4 months ago and never saw him again. I assumed my Neon Wrasse ate him since I'm sure he ate the other 3. So when I was moving everything to the new tank, out pops the shrimp from under a rock. He's about 3 times bigger now. Put him in the new tank and saw him one more time when I was moving the rock around.
