Got an Olight H2R for Christmas! Never thought second about a headlamp, but damn this light is awesome!

I've been meaning to pick up a nice headlamp. I have a couple of those freebie Olight H05S IR's but I've been meaning to get one with some more output. Post up some pics and a review of the H2R when you get a chance. A 2,300 Lumen headlamp that'll run on high for almost 2 hours sounds badass if it doesn't get too hot. That sounds like it'd be the perfect light for camping.

Bringing this thread up to the top.

Can someone recommend me a light for an AR under 150? Would prefer a pressure switch but I can thumb it if need be. The brighter the better since it's going to be all outdoor use.

In @Jds556762's thread on lights, nods & designators, he mentioned that the Streamlight TLR-1 was a really good light for the $ & he'd run it on several rifle calibers with no problems.

Without much searching there is this light & separate pressure switch from amazon for about $150

I'm thinking of picking up a Surefire Scout for my AR15. Some folks have complained about the swivel-adjust mount that SF now includes. Is it that bad? If so, can I get an aftermarket mount that doesn't suck?

All that aside, is there another brand/model I should consider? I'd like something like the Scout in terms of features.

I have two of the new scout pros, with the swivel mount.
They’ve held up find for me on a 10.3” SBR and a 14.5” pin and weld.
One is a 640u and the other a 340v

I would recommend to stay away from the M640 dual fuel as it was having some battery bounce/electronic issues but the 340 and standard 640 have been working fine for me

my swivel mounts have not budged

Thanks for the info! Now that you mention it, it might just have been the DF versions that I heard people complaining about.

Yeah the DF had a HUGE amount of complaints. Not working well witj pads, dimming, dying, cutting out under fire it’s crazy. I actually just shot with my M640 engaged tonight after hours at the indoor range and zero problems to report still

mount is secured
Light stayed on, and stayed bright all good

on the 20th I’m going to a big night vision shoot and will be running the 340v on white light and Ir light so I’ll try and remember to report back after that if I experience anything weird

Another question: I was going through my stuff today and found a Vltor flashlight mount that goes on a pic rail and holds a 1" diameter light. I could put this on one of my uppers that I have kind of as a backup but I'd need a decent 1" light. Is there a good one that wouldn't break the bank that would be suitable for this purpose?

There’s a boat load of 1” diameter options out there and the majority of them are pretty affordable you shouldn’t have any problem finding something that produces the throw or spill or recoil rating you’re looking for within your budget

Surefire has a 1” polymer push-button line up and so does Streamlight

Picked up 2 streamlight microstream USB and 2 stylus pro from primary arms the other night during their sale. Will hopefully be here next week.
