I know you said you were looking at the Haley rig, but I have a Stacked Micro Rig from SOE, and they're awesome! I think it's easily the best chestrig on the market.

They are nice but I hate waiting and I could get the Haley rig in a few days and not have to add any pouches to it. While the SOE is top notch, the Haley strategic is still very good quality.

That's fair, I know the waiting sucks, I can't really fault you for that, I got mine in like 3 weeks.

I have an SOE Ar/ak micro rig and a shotgun micro rig. Both are top notch.

I would go with something modular (i.e.: MOLLE/PALS compatible). If you buy a rig with sewn-on pouches then you're stuck with that configuration. A modular rig will allow to you set up what you think will work and if it doesn't, all you have to do is decide why it doesn't work for you and then just rearrange the pouches accordingly.

I've also found that my tastes/needs change as I learn more, which makes me like to switch things up a bit. PALS lets you do this freely.

I also like an "H"-style harness over the "X" style, but that's a personal preference. A rig that allows you to try both options might be worth considering.

I prefer 1000D Cordura over 500D; the 500D is slightly lighter but that's 'cause it's thinner. That means that it wears out faster. Not as big a deal when Uncle Sugar is issuing you new stuff whenever you wear it out but when you have to pay for your own kit, you'll probably appreciate the 1000D stuff.

That's all I can think of right now.

@Cudruln Mine is a Beez Combat Systems. I've never actually ran it, but it's comfortable and seems well made. You're welcome to try it. IMG_20170319_120320985.jpg

I am starting to toy with the idea of getting a chest rig. What are you running, some qualities to look for/ or stay away from, what brands to stay away from?

I run an SOE Micro M4/AK Double Stack Rig. I really like it. Quality is top notch and the way it's designed makes sense for the way I train.

I also have run an SOE Cop Rig for my shotgun, but I'm assuming you're talking about a rifle rig.

I run H-Harnesses on the rigs for added comfort and stability. It's worth the extra money.

That's awesome. Would give me a reason to go tactical with the ar9
Oh yeah. That's why I'm trading onto it. Not many choices when it comes to AR9. I've been planning on ordering one. Then I saw this one listed.

So now I am torn between a chest rig and plate carrier.

Somebody help me out with some pros and cons.

Biggest con to a plate carrier is cost. If it were me, because this is my plan, is to buy a chest rig that you can attach to a plate carrier. Then save your pennies and buy a carrier down the road. I am leaning toward a haley strategic chest rig and then down the road buy a carrier and the chest rig will clip right onto it.
