    Show your scope/sights

I run a Bushnell 1-4x24 on my AR. I like it, but I would like one with long-range optics, and one with irons or a red dot too. Hmmmm. I can see where this is headed.

    Favorite deer hunting rifle/caliber

Should be in the shotgun forum...but Iowa is shotgun only for deer. So this is my son's deer rifle. We call it Frankengun. We build it for 1 weekend of hunting. It starts with one of my old 870 express 12 ga. receivers, then add a 24" Mossberg rifled, ported, cantilevered slug barrel (for...

    OnYour6Designs holster review

Looks like a good holster. For all-day comfort, I like a hybrid with the horsehide backer. But kydex is awesome for its retention capabilities. This winter I plan to buy some kydex and experiment with making a few owb range holsters on the cheap. It doesn't look too hard to do and I'll get...

    New 45

Good job on the fix Nano. I don't hesitate to tweak something that is wrong on a gun.....if it's a replaceable part like that. Just make sure you've tested it enough to rely on it. I bought an XD9sc a while back for carry and it shoots extremely well even with the 3" barrel. Kinda homely like a...

    The .380 photo thread...

My LCP.....started as a blued slide, but iwb holster + sweat = rust. So I cleaned it up, and sprayed it with stainless steel pigmented paint. The holster wear areas are smooth and don't rust anymore because I switched to ankle carry. All is good. It doesn't have to be pretty.....just reliable...

    Whats your next purchase?

I assembled an AR last year from a PSA kit and a stripped lower for about $450 before optics. I have a couple more stripped lowers in the safe, so as soon as I can I'll be doing another. It's fun and easy to put one together, and I saved a couple hundred over the same rifle assembled from PSA...

    22 LR

Rich, I found some CCI mini mag hollowpoints at walmart today too. $7.47/100 rounds. Limit 1 box yet though. I've got a ton of .22's, so not a concern. While I was there, I picked up a 100rnd box of trap loads and some 9mm.

    What are you carrying today?

lws380, I like options too! Various size carry choices to fit the day. The xd9 subcompact has 13+1 which is the way I carry it, but with the extended mag--16+1 is nice at the range. But a .45acp........ I'll have to handle one of each, the single and the double stack. Thanks for the comparison.

    What are you carrying today?

I carry my XD9sc IWB on weekends quite a bit, and agree that it conceals quite well with a t-shirt untucked. That's what I have on now, as the ankle that sports my LCP on workdays, has a big ice bag on it right now. Not a great way to start the week.... lws380--If I can carry the xd9 double...

    Whats your next purchase?

Wow Rich, that is a beaut! Looks like it's a handfull. I'd like to shoot that. I do like the feel of .45acp in a 1911 though.

    Whats your next purchase?

My gun budget is kinda flat, but I feel the need for a .45acp. Or build my second AR. Or a nicer trap gun. Or.........

    Home Defense shotgun

Thanks guys. It was a fun project for $80. I still plan to bring her back to a blued finish, the barrel exterior is not pitted too bad, and the receiver can be brought back to a nice finish I believe. The internals are all excellent as is the bore and the action is buttery smooth.

    Home Defense shotgun

Okay.....that finally worked.....wasn't the pic I wanted but so be it. Rich, I didn't re-blue it, because it was rusted and scratched pretty deep. I can remove this finish at some time and do the full restoration. Besides, it was made the year my wife was born. Soooo, I intend to do it justice...
