    1911 Questions

Lookin' good! I think I could build a small block faster than I could a 1911. High standards and tight tolerances and all.

    Rough Creek Traders Closing

@RTC22- all the best man! I've always been enjoyed seeing the pictures of your creations... everything always looked outstanding. I really hope you guys can find a building that will suit your needs and be affordable. That's been an issue for lots of folks down in Macon too.

    James Bond Setup...Sort of

I bought it from Soviet, shot it with and without my .22 can, and decided it had to go within two range sessions. I'm a Bond junkie too, love the movies. I have a PPK/S only because of those movies. Had a P22 for a short time too. Traded it off. Long story short, I love the Bond series...

    James Bond Setup...Sort of

Yeah- had a stainless PPK 22 for a short while. I won't be doing that again. Threaded barrel nut worked fine, shot OK, but was so damn front heavy with the Zephyr can on it- that was my last host that isn't a Ruger MK series. Even the 22/45 lite was way better handling than the PPK 22.

How NOT to shoot your M-16A2 :)

AK style... until there's incoming fire. Then drop it and run.

    Spotting Scopes Under $150

I may be too late, but... I found my regular sized camera tripod at a store called Tuesday Morning- sort of a catch all, discount dollar store. Kind of like a Big Lots, but smaller. The aluminum tripod was like $12 from there. One thing you'll learn quickly about the table top tripods is that...

    Interest in Professional Armorers course?

I'd really love to do this. But I'm in the same boat as a lot of other folks... we're closing on a new house on Friday. Being that I'm going to have two mortgages for awhile, I'm broke as hell. Per the budget that includes everything necessary and some things fun, I should have $84 a month...

    Laminate vs synthetic stock

I have both- neither seem to make any difference in the Georgia climate. If I were expecting the same POI at my Georgia gun club vs. shooting in Alberta Canada, I'd probably pick the synthetic. However, if the shot is that important, I'd check zero in Canada in advance. Specifically, my NM...

Impressive- but I don't see how they got any real strength out of the small area where the fibers cross. I guess it was laid up on a cylinder and then the epoxy was cured one way or the other.

If someone at the booth handed me that, I would have been quite happy to give it a test for them. I'm not sure it could stand up to a handshake level grip... much less than how hard I'd squeeze it.

Heh... I switched from EOTech to a Innovative Arms Grunt-M... Thanks @DoglegArms!

    Rattle can AR

Good to know- I had no idea what might happen, but since there's lots of ABS plastic shields/guides/wiring stuff in an engine compartment, I guess the chemical folks should have considered it already (I just thought of that).

    Rattle can AR

Nice work! The engine de-greaser didn't harm any of the plastic? I had a friend here who did the same thing. Kind of a lighter color scheme though- he sent me a picture of the rifle against an oak tree and you could hardly tell it was there.

Found out how loud primers are..,

Oh- and this is one of the times a universal decapping die is really handy... otherwise you have to mess up and reset the FLS die in whatever set you're using.

Found out how loud primers are..,

I very gently use the decapping pin in the press. Say for John's case above- he'd gotten a primer wedged into the brass and now the brass is basically "pinned" into the shell plate via the primer. Move the primer cup out from under the shell plate, install the decapping die (if it happens to...
