Yes, and they shot very well. I prefer a side-charging upper on my scope-mounted AR's as well. 1. Easier to install a higher, or adjustable, cheekpiece 2. I can work the bolt without moving my head from the stock/eye from the scope.

Not really, that's what we're teaching. You're expected to know the fundamentals of marksmanship as well as how to function your weapon system.

Students aren't required to engage out to 600yds. Required targets go to about 300yds, everything past that is optional and up to the individual shooter. Something in the 110grn range would reach a fair distance and be very doable at 600yds.

Have you shot the Knoxx recoil reducing stocks? I hate those things. They don't give me a solid feel.

Most pump shotgun stocks are too long for non-hunting use. I think it's one of the things that contributes to "short stroking".

I like the Hogue Overmolded stock with the short LOP.

A RDS takes a lot more beating on a G17 than it ever would on say an AR in .450 Bushmaster. All that back-and-forth slamming of the slide ain't good for them.
