As you get to higher levels, the pokemon you encounter will get bigger. Also, the level you can power pokemon to increases with each level until you get to level 35 (I think). So, just because it's small now doesn't mean you shouldn't keep it around.

Check the IVs before you transfer any off or evolve one. Just hit the bottom right button when you're looking at the pokemon, then select 'appraise'. I wouldn't evolve anything less than 3 stars

You are correct. Go on occasion gets some pokemon that are rather hard to find on the switch versions from what I'm told. Genesect was a raid a few weeks back...apparently it's pretty much impossible to get on the switch versions.

Make sure to leave pokemon in gyms when you can. That's how you earn coins to purchase stuff like bag upgrades and remote raid passes.

Changing moves requires using a fast or charged TM, depending on which move you want to change. Game press.gg/pokemongo will show you the best move sets and give a good explanation. just search for whatever Pokémon and it’ll have tons of data.

The raid difficulty is indicated by the little heads underneath. For a 1, unless very low level, most players should be able to do solo. 3 can be done by one higher level player. 5 usually takes 4-5 higher level players,

You have to battle it first. Then, you get some rewards (potions, berries, etc.) And a chance to catch a normal size version of the raid boss. The number of balls you get to catch it depends on a variety of factors.
