Well, she's got her tent, food, stove, gun, knife and crazy-assed Malanois. Pity the fool... Me, I can use the tarp, got all the above but no dog. I'm pretty comfortable in da woods lol.

Me and my wife are NOT gonna get separated lol. Her and the niece aren't either.

Easy to make you're own. I use deer, but you could probably get by with really lean beef. You want to avoid fat for long-term storage. If you're gonna prep for a trip within a couple weeks it won't matter.

At the farm, at Pecos RNG.....pretty handy to have on you any time you travel, really.

Good deal. I usually just use one, but man they are great on hills and water crossings.

Yeah, I know. But my wife is the most generous person I know, seriously. She doesn't shop, drink, smoke, gamble, nag, any of that bullshit most women do. She buys me stuff all the time. If I can fix her up in the least little bit, I will.

I make those dehydrated meals, add boiled water then let them sit in an insulated pouch for 10-15 minutes. They are in a quart freezer bag (NOT a storage bag) - the long spoon is a big plus for that.

You know that brings up another point. If you're hiking with others you can eliminate the redundancy by one hiker hauling the water, one hauling the stove etc... My wife hauls her Zpack tent. I haul the tarp. We each carry our own stove/food, it just makes prep faster but some folks do it...
