I run Aimpoint Micros on my carbines, so just a red dot. I don't run optics on my pistols. I received my Nightforce NX8 1-8x24 F1 with the FC-MOA reticle today, so I'll start shooting that as well.

Depending on the task at hand, I prefer the Nightforce MIL-R and MOAR reticles.

I would recommend you go to a recognized gunsmithing school then apprentice yourself to someone that has already been doing it for 20 years and has built a solid reputation. Depending upon your background, you could skip the first step.

What are you liking to get out of the class? You want to build 1911’s from scratch, or you want to maintain, replace parts that wear naturally, and make upgrades?

I was thinking along the lines of RD10.......trim the broken parts off. You could trim a shit ton of material off that stock and make a lightweight, sporter stock out of it. If I had a rifle to fit, I’d pick it up to give it a whirl.

I have students that run Lancers, but I run PMags. I haven’t seen that issue, but I’m not an expert on Lancers.
