I don’t know what year model my buddy has, but his slide is not controlled by his grip safety.

Just called a buddy who has an XD. He confirmed that it does not lock back when the grip safety is not engaged, he even tried to get it to do it while I was on the phone with him.

I do not believe that is so.

For a self-defense Remington, I only recommend the Police and Wingmaster models. If you get a Tactical or Express, there are numerous parts I recommend to have upgraded. You can hunt around and find police trade-in 870’s for $175-$250. That’s the ticket.
