I'm not a Colt fanboy. I'm kind of AR ambivalent. I just want to know quantifiable differences, and it seems that there really aren't many, if any, between all of the upper level manufacturers aside from aesthetics and a few 'features'.

Yeah, until you get into the upper level boutique guns you won't see a huge difference. Find a rifle built around a good barrel and you'll be just fine. That 6920 will be just fine for your 8 trips to the range per year, and then some. If you wanted to improve it a bit, drop $100 into a trigger and swap your handguard.

I've given BCM a hard look, but like everyone says about Colt I've read lots of stuff about how BCM is also declining in quality
Just bought a 16" lightweight BCM upper with a 13" mlok rail. Haven't shot it yet, but looking it over it appears to be flawless in every way. Sample size:1

I gave my opinion out of the choices offered. If I went outside that I’d go with Sons Of Liberty Gun Works. They run sales regularly.

HK went to a polymer dust cover as well. It won’t rust, bend or deform, possibly binding the bolt.

The DD polymer dust cover incorporates a rubber gasket for a better seal, and is more expensive to manufacture than the cheap pic of stamped steel that is the “regular” dust cover.

Folks love when companies make an entire pistol frame from polymer, but lose their minds when some companies switch to a polymer dust cover. A dust cover ain’t near as essential as a frame, and isn’t under near the stress.

I’ve got some polymer dust covers, with integral gaskets, headed my way for some testing

I can't see what a $1500 LWRC can do that a Colt or BCM for $900 couldn't.
It's $1100, not $1500. It has a monolithic rail and is somewhat different.

But there is nothing my PSA for $400 can't do that your Colt can either, if we go down that route. I'm not sure what you're looking for. To me, a $500 PSA is just as good as a $1400 DD, minus the fancy rail. Seriously.

We know polymer is superior to metal in a certain applications. But why invest money in such a nonessential part? It’s not for a superior product IMO. It’s to ultimately save money.

Ive been looking at them quite a bit. I think if I build a 12.5" gun I will run their barrel and possibly one of their Angry Patriot lowers. I know an Anderson would do just fine but I really like that roll mark....

If I hadnt gotten a 6920 so cheap I would have done a PSA....it does bother me that it seems aside from buying the CHF barrels no one seems to really know what PSA is giving you, and why the Freesom line is more than the PTAC. PSAs silence and refusal to answer questions is also bothersome.

Somethings like PTAC LPKs are hit or miss. Their assembled uppers have all been great for me.

As it sits I have 1150 in my Colt with BCM MCMR 10, troy folding sights, Trijicon MRO, raptor CH.

Could I have really done better?
