I pulled the Gemtech 9mm can apart last night for it's first cleaning in about 1000 rounds...fuck. Had to (gently..kinda) pound the baffles out with a deepwell socket with small extension attached to it. I've never had baffles so stuck. It was pretty dirty, but damn.

I used a brass wire wheel on the dremel to remove carbon from the edges of the baffles to aid in re-assembly...mostly worked.

Any tips or tricks? Just don't clean them? lol

Tumble the baffled? Not sure. What kind of ammo were you shooting? What kind of fouling did you see?

Spray Pam on the baffles and inside the tube before reassembly

I've shot mostly CCI Lawman 147's and a handful of Freedom Munitions 147's.

Those are both jacketed bullets. I can't run the flat nose stuff with 100% consistency on the Mac. I have probably shot about 500 to 700 rds full auto thru my Gemtech. Guess I better disassemble and see how bad it is.

I took the Gemtech apart tonight and didn't even try to force the baffles out. Soaking in the ultrasonic cleaner and will see if they loosen up enough to slide out easily.

Ultrasonic cleaner works decently, but a wet tumbler with ss pins will make them look new again (for stainless baffles only not aluminum)

All but my blast baffle is aluminum, so no ultrasonic either. Goof Off graffiti cleaner does a surprisingly good job though.

I dont have a stainless tumbler yet. I can bead blast them though. Only takes a couple minutes and they will look brand new
My Tirant is a steel blast baffle and aluminum otherwise. I think my spectre II is all steel though. Can you bead blast both metals?

Tirant should have a few titanium baffles, then some aluminum. Spectre is stainless. I can bead blast stainless and ti, but itll strip the anodizing off the aluminum
