I've got a mpap and love it, but the full size AK's are my faves.

I didn't know anyone made bakelite in 5.56

My dad bought a few of them in the 90s and modified the followers to work with 5.56. Back during the AWB it was common for the 84s to take bakelite 5.45 mags and modify them.

I wish whoever started importing 7.62x39 would have called it 308 Short or something..cuz that's what it is.

I also don't get why a lot of AR types lol down on 7.62x39 but sing the praises of 300 BO...

because the x39 is loud as fuck suppressed. X39 suppressed out of a 10 inch barrel is louder than 300 BLK out of a 10 inch barrel unsuppressed. It's because of the shit slow burning powder in russian ammo. I think they use a REALLY slow burning powder so they don't even have to measure it since most of it burns up outside the barrel. With 300 BLK all the powder is burned and gone before the bullet gets to the end of a 10" barrel.

I hadn't considered suppressed....that makes sense

I have both, the old x39 is the Soviet choice and who am I to argue . Also 5.45 wasssss cheap, now it's pricey

You already have the best caliber for an AK, but another flavor wouldn't hurt. I regret selling my $400 Bulgarian 5.45 AK. Best damn AK I've ever owned.

762x39 AK does it for me. I'm well invested in 556 ARs so 545 doesn't make a lot of sense for my purposes ... especially now that the spam cans of the cheap shit are drying up.
