After owning Springers, Kimber, Ruger, RIA & Sig, I've traded them all except the Sigs. I know some don't like the external extractors, but I love the triggers and smoothness of the Sigs.

If I was getting another budget 1911, I would get another RIA in a heartbeat, the 3 I've had were all great shooters with a little tweaking.

was just about to post this.

purist hate the external extractors of the sig, but they seem to be of higher quality than others in the same price bracket. of course now that colts have come down a bit, it would be hard not to go with the colt for $750ish. i was shopping for a 1911 several years ago and had my mind set on the sig before deciding to hold off.

What's your price range?

From the bottom up I would recommend:
SAI Loaded
SAI RO
SAI TRP

The TRP is definitely not a Loaded with a checkered front strap. There is quite a bit more to it than that, but they are also quite a bit more money.

I used a lightly tuned SAI TRP to achieve my Grand Master in Single Stack USPSA. Great gun, has never let me down.

I think I'm going to go with the RO. Price is right and I like the look and feel. The TRP is a little pricey for right now.

I would buy a Springer before I bought a Ruger.

Actually, sub 1k it's damn hard to beat a Springer Loaded.

He's gotta come up this way anyways to get that badass Gadsden flag from Weathered Wood Designs. He might as well make the trip worth his while. ;)

I'm pretty excited about that. I told my wife I was going to hang it in the living room near my deer mount.

I have a Springfield 1911 A1 GI model, that shoots great, and was only $519.00 out the door when I bought it in 2006 ( I still have the receipt in the box.)
I gotta' admit I want one of these in the near future...

I don't get how SA can use MIM parts in the HRT/Professional model and charge $3k. MIM might be just fine but at that price point there is ZERO reason it should have MIM
