You can do it. You sure don't have to be skinny as a rail to be an excellent distance runner. A couple guys I run with are far from "petite", and I also run with one of the guy's dad (on the far left) who is 62 and still does very well (ran a 26 minute 5k a month ago in Candler Park on a super hilly course).

cant you wear tight ones that arent short for the same outcome but less ghey?
I love the gheyness. Gotta have compression under my shorts to prevent chafing, especially for long runs. Shorts on top of those need to be super short and light. I've perfected my kit over years of running!

I love being the older guy that shows up in the shorty shorts and whoops everyone's ass!

I know im not gonna be doing shit for exercise outside this winter lol
Don't be a pussy. All you need are some gloves, a hat, and your normal summer stuff. Maybe a long sleeve shirt. After a mile you'll be stripping the hat and gloves off.

Does sucking down cold af air not bother your nose and throat too??
Doesn't bother me. Viking dna I guess. I'm cold all over when it's sub 30 degrees for about a mile, then I'm like an oven. All the shit gets peeled off and sleeves get rolled up. Until sub 20...then the gloves stay on and hat is on more than it's off. For single digits the tights come out.

Ran 5.4 at Turkey yesterday.

The cold weather - I'm kinda like Laufen, except a little less tolerant of it. Used to, when I'd run in sub-freezing temps, I'd cough the rest of the day. Now that rarely happens. When I was training for that 50K last winter, it got down into the 20s one "long run" day. I think I went about a mile and wished I'd kept my gloves on. By 4 or 5 miles, I was OK, and I think I ran around 12 or so total. Hands felt fine.
Got to the truck and started to record my time...I couldn't hold a pen 'cause my hands were numb. I guess I didn't realize the blood from my extremities was all in my torso, keeping me warm...I looked like a cripple trying to write, lol.

My bag is packed to hit the gym today for the first time in a while. Working out makes my entire life better. It mitigates irritability, anger, laziness, fatigue, and random depression. Its sad that I know how good it is for me and I still haven't been in a few years.
