...thx guys. Bdd, I've owned my SR45 for about three years, albeit it hasn't been shot that much...perhaps 500 rounds. I don't recall experiencing any technical issues with the pistol, nor the SR9 for that matter. Both are like a Timex....that's what makes a Ruger firearm a fine investment, along with their impeccable customer service.

..oops, :-[...I mentioned that I have a SR45...duhhh, it was just introduced. The Ruger I have is a P345, pictured above.

My apology for the brain gas display....dang, getting old ain't no fun.

I just ordered an XDS .45 compact. It is essentially a .45 service model with a shortened grip for easier concealment. Plus it comes with an extended mag and grip to make it the same size as the service model. The extended mag and grip sleeve gives you 13 +1. Thought I would get a higher capacity double stack .45 while I still can. I have the XD 9mm service ( 4 inch 16 +1) and it is a great shooter.

I ordered through Springfield about 2 weeks ago. They told me they had no idea when I would get it, so I'm patiently waiting to see when it might show up. Here is a link to a picture of it (not my picture).

I am really excited to hear you are getting a new gun lws380. For one reason I am always glad to hear about a buddy getting a new gun, but also I am interested in the same gun. I have had my eye on that little .45 and the EMP for a while now.

Looks like it was shipped. :D :D Springfield says they charge the card the day it ships as state law does not allow them to charge before it is ready to ship. I was charged yesterday the 30th! I'll be calling my FFL tomorrow. I ordered extra 13 round mags also. So I will have one 10 rounder and (4) 13 rounders. I'll post up some pics soon!

I knew it was about the same size as XD 9mm service model. Same length 7.3", 5.0" high with 10 round mag, about 1 inch thick slide. Measure the take down levers and it is slightly wider. With the 10 round mag it is .5" shorter in height than the XD 9mm Service. With the 13 round mag the .45 is .5 inches taller in height. I like that it has the options on the grip length. I have concealed carried the XD9, but need a loose/long over shirt to cover it. With a good forward cant it was not that hard to hide.

But my main reason of buying was the 13 round mag .45 capacity. Thought I would get it in case they decide I should not have it in the future. I have the XDS and a Springer 1911 and thought this might round out the stable a little.

Picked up the new XD .45 compact a little while ago. I have attached a few pictures. It is just about what I expected. Very close in size to my XD 9mm service model. I like the two mag options (10 and 13). The 10 rounder will certainly help with concealment. Slightly thicker than the XD 9mm as the new one will not fit in my holster for the XD 9mm. I'm thinking a black holster and may even throw on some Antique Rust Elephant accent. I'll get to the range in a few days and check it out.

With the 10 round mag, I think it can workout for conceal carry. It will be thicker and heavier.
