Who did you go with and
Where would you go for 18" mid or rifle gas with a pinned FSB hopefully F marked and not standard from what I'm reading they are slightly different and may have issues getting zero

16" mid. If you're sold on the pencil and fsb you can replace the sight post with a longer one and make it work.

Longest gas system that's reliable. I think a 20" looks better aesthetically than a 18" on a A2 setup.

I'm stuck on 18" and a FSB I'd like to get rifle gas but I'll go mid if there's another manufacturer that will pin it on. I've found a carbine and a mid triangle handguard if I had to go that route but rifle is what I'd like to build.

Just my two cents... But if your going to do a M16A1 clone, just go with the 20 inch bbl. If you want you can go with the 5/8 shorter or longer stock. The triangle hand guards are cool, but sooner or later, you will wrap your hand around the top and burn it on the gas tube. I want to do a XM177 rifle, it wont be a true clone b/c it will have the rear sight elevation drum, but I'm only building it for looks.

I want mine to look like the one in the middle.

I've already got an Aero upper I'm putting a detach carry handle on but I want the triangle handguard yes for the look. 9 out of 10 times my thumb runs parallel with the barrel and the guard rests in my palm I don't try choking the guard with my thumb so hopefully I won't have to worry about the hot gas tube. Weight is an issue to me so 18" is where I want to stay and still get what I need out it. I'm sure the rifle will shoot better than I can at 500 yds but at least I know it's there. Call me stubborn I guess... I've earned it for sure

I'm wanting to change my 10.5 upper to look like the middle one on my 9mm. I decided to keep it as a pistol after the ATF ok'd the SB tactical brace. I think it'll be pretty bad ass. I know, I know, sbr it. Why? I see zero reason for sbr on this type build. No vertical grip will ever be on it, I can shoulder it, I can avoid the letter hassle if I want to take it out of state, I save $200, and the SBM4 doesn't look like a hideous donkey dong any more. Ok, back on topic, @Red Dawn you definitely need an "F" marked sight base if you're using the detachable carry handle. I'm with @EugenFJR though, I'd go 20" if I was going to use a rifle length gas system. 18" mid length.

Oh, and no gas tube for the 9mm so I'm GTG with the triangle handguard. No burned fingies!

Saw an SBR recently, the upper was set up like that middle upper. Kinda cool!

Just in case you were wondering 2 types carry handle milspec .835 used with F marked FSB and commercial .795 used with standard FSB. Anyone know what the number is next to the Forge. I have a keyhole 3 so I know Cero Forge is it M4 I'm guessing.

Subscribed. This should be a cool build. I've been thinking about switching the upper on my Colt SP1 clone to a FA and brass deflector upper. I like the looks of those better than the slick side upper that's on it currently.

please pm me if you ever want to get rid of that sp1 upper ... if it's an a1 fixed carry handle.
