Absolutely. I used to use a paper clip to pick padlocks as a kid. Never got into any professional tools but have also been able to use an allen key (small) and a tweaker screw driver to get into my tool box when I lost the keys.

If you have to ask then no.

If you just want to be able to do it, or think it's useful, think it might be fun or just want to know then yes. It's a hobby like anything else. Might as well be asking "is hunting a skill worth having?" If you have to ask then the answer is no, you're content buying food at a shop. That's fine.
