Guys, let me give you all a preview of what's likely to happen if HPA passes and silencers are taken off the NFA list. Inventory will disappear within hours/days from retailers. We know this is likely because of what happened with 41P. It will take manufacturers some time to ramp up production and even longer for the big firearm manufacturers to get setup. So while there will be no Form 4 to wait on, you'll be waiting on retailers getting inventory. There are roughly 8,000 SOTs that carry all the silencer inventory. If HPA passes, there are 140,000 FFLs that will be able to sell silencers. That's a lot of inventory for manufacturers to produce to meet the demand.

Here's my advice to you in the market for a can and if you think HPA will pass as it's written, buy a can now. Think of the tax stamp as insurance to buy a can now and if HPA passes as is, you'll get your tax stamp money back.

Here's the reality, IMO (no facts here) you're not going to get your NFA tax stamp money refunded. Tax stamp money goes into a general fund, there is no NFA Tax fund. I don't see the feds giving millions of dollars taxes back. Do you?

Here's the good news if you want to wait for HPA to pass, we have local manufacturers like @KGmade and Dobbs Defense that you can buy direct!

So would this change anything about the legality of homemade suppressors?
I'm no lawyer, but if they are taken off of the registry and treated like firearms, then they should be legal to make at home, as long as you aren't making them to sell.

I could imagine something like the 80% lowers being made. A whole suppresor that just needs the holes in the baffles and end cap drilled.

Thats why I asked the question, "is this happening or being voted on or what???".....
That's why I replied, "it was just introduced." lol

New bills are introduced all the time. Some make it, some die in vitro.

So what does that mean in relation to my question...?
It means that it was introduced to HOR, and it'll probably fare well there. However, it has to also pass the Senate where it'll probably face stiffer competition.

The whole process can take a while.

Gotcha. The original post made it sound like it was through all that. So multiple rounds of voting etc... Got it.

Yeah, HOR votes and it'll prob be ok, the Senate will require 60 votes. Last time it had 58-59...so we'll see.

Didnt Trump just elect a new Senate person though (which id assume would be pro 2A)? Or am I that far under a rock...?

Trump's not electing anyone...so I'd say "yeah". ;)

The long and short of it is that it's going to take Bi-Partisan support. That's why it's so important to call, email, candy gram our elected officials.
