Good news, the knives are hard. Bad news is a brand new cobalt bit won't drill them.

We have to drill 80 brazillion holes in stainless steel quite often, and the best bits for the task have always been Milwaukee cobalt bits, if that helps at all. Even still, only get a handful of holes out of a bit, and drill slow

Yep. These are dewalt cobalt bits. Stepping from 1/8" up to size. And the drill press is set at 380 RPM- lowest setting.
