I lived in Austin for a few years. It was okay when I was younger but I wouldn’t live there now. Pretty much Seattle politics and Austin politics are the same
If it were me, Seattle all day long over Austin, even with the rain and temps in the mid-60's (but hate hot & humid Austin weather more).
To me, much more to do in Seattle, from Mt Rainier to downtown, Alki Beach, etc.
Obviously have to dodge the tent cities in some areas, but again, really depends on where you'll be.
Austin is a lot cheaper than Seattle, but to me, the political climates are pretty equal right now, so the pros/cons are all over the place.
Seattle by far. Besides the liberals, it’s much nicer (Austin and Houston have mostly gone to shit after 2005)
San Antonio or El Paso or north of Dallas are the only good options in Texas.

@Jstegman1, a consideration I'd have is whether or not this 3 month gig might turn into a long-term job offer. Austin & Seattle are both left-wing crazy cities, but Washington has a much more left-wing, anti-gun state level gov't that Texas.
