The unmolested M38's and M44's have become very collectable... and if you think the 91/30's have gotten expensive, you are in for a nasty surprise finding a all orginal M38. I was fortunate enough to find both a orginal M38, and M44 at 2 different gun shows, and pulled them out of the crate. And both of them were WWII dated rifles.
All of this being said, as I said before, just go buy a Savage rifle, if you are going to hunt Bambi.
It sucks. I also accepted a shorter deadline before this happened. Nothing like a little extra pressure on myself. I'm definitely going to purchase a new gun after I get through these deadlines.
