Well if he knew he was gonna have to get this deep from the top, it would have been easier from the beginning. The old durock wouldn't stay down on the new subfloor and was buckling the tiles, cracking the grout.

I guess he's going with a piece of new durock and then putting the tiles back down. Any tips from anyone familiar?

Just can't hire good help these days.

I know how to repair most all of that, but i can't work for a perfectionist (and that's not you.... the homeowner)

Fogo Atlanta ain't bad. Better than the one in NYC. The other Brazilian steakhouses I've been to in Pensacola and Amelia Island weren't as good as Fogo Atlanta either. I might have to make a trip sometime. There's some other places in ATL that have been on my bucket list for quite some time

You come up for a night at Fogo, and we’ll join you unless it’s a brown chicken brown cow affair.

Durarock is a Sheetrock replacement.
Hardy backer is for use on floors. (Can be used on walls also.

I've tiled counters (kitchen & bathroom), floors, walls (showers & kitchen backsplashes) over the decades & hardie backer held up great. The people that bought the house I redid in 1999 are still rocking with the porcelain tile floor, countertops & backsplash I put in the kitchen then, Unless durock is significantly cheaper, I'd go with hardie board.
