You wouldn't know what it was if we did pull out a fat nug and start rolling up.
In case you ever gotta swap out panel or replace panel not all lugs are in the same location it can save you on a replacement. Having to lift or lower the can. Service loops. Also it can lower the stress on the lugs in some situations

Also it’s easier to get big conductors under the lugs when you have a loop like that instead of trying to do a short ass offset bend on a thick ass wire. Easier installation.

Way too many factors, how far away, is the panel full, generator specs, conduit needed, logistics, finished areas, how you transferring power etc
