I ran across that a while back. The silicon oil seems to do a great job preventing the shit from sticking. I havent tried it myself yet, as I have been trying to see how many rounds our thread on 22 can will go before getting stuck, but I will one day.

Interesting, but seems tumbling the parts for a day got them just as clean and did not require the brake fluid treatment nor the added mess.

I suppose if you have ready access to a range shoot a lot, it could help, otherwise, it seems like too much added work.

Silicone treatment works amazing to protect it from buildup sticking to early.

That said, tumbling in pin media is the King of can cleaning IMO.

As for my rifle cans, well I'll hose them out, spray them with oil, and then heat them in the oven to help oil penetrate and burn off some of the excess buildup.

Slow and low heat or High heat and quick.

Curious what your blast baffles look like since you run FA and direct thread on them mostly.

Thread came up on ODT about the QD brakes acting like a sacrificial blast baffle again. Would be neat to see if yours are roughed up a lot or still in pretty good shape.

Specwar with probably 1k rounds of steel case 223, 750rds brass 556, 200 rounds of match quality 308, a few hundred 22 magnum, 100 or so 7.62x54R. Use of brake and flash hider on all calibers. Probably 300 or so rounds of fully auto 556. 16" barrels generally but it's been on a 20" and a full auto 10.5 before.

I did the silicone oil/brake fluid treatment on my Spectre II when it was new. I've got probably 3k rounds through it now. Haven't felt compelled to open it up yet.
