Is it legal, or does anyone do an 80% suppressor?

I'm just imagining an awesome build party at the @KGmade World Headquarters where we all get some background instruction in machining while trying to not ruin an ultra expensive piece of machinery.

Is this a thing?

i don't know about "80%" ones but you can always just get the "kits" like what sd tacticle used to make (not sure who the best source is now) this is something I've also been thinking about lately as now I have money for tax stamps so I really want to build at least one

I'd have to think that you could get adequate suppression even from a home built hackjob.

from all of my research as long as you take your time you can get very close to factory suppressor decibel levels. thankfully in all reality they are a pretty simple concept. I just cant spend 400-500 bucks for something I can build for less than 100

Now that I think about it a little more, there were the "flash light cans" awhile back- you could order all the parts with an end cap that wasn't drilled yet. You still pay the $200 stamp, but you make it yourself once you get the stamp in hand.

And the main reasons I am sticking to the professionally made cans is weight and general "straightness"... machining metal isn't as easy as it looks.

Or a 20 oz. Mtn Dew bottle and some duct tape. Not that I'm advocating such an illegal act ever be attempted.

Oh... and "Eva" as in ever. I read that as the girls name Eva...
Yeah, I'd want something durable.

I have thought about registering a molotov cocktail just for kicks though.

The build party idea would be illegal, atf ruling 2015-1. Sorry. Once a grey area, now a no-go for any FFL.

You're not the first to think of it, though...

Hes correct unfortunately. We could do a build party, but then we would have to serialize them and 4473 it to you lol.

I have also shot an SD tactical 8" suppressor next to my specwar on an identical host. It was noticably louder on a 16" 300blk handi rifle. It was a good bit louder on a 8" 300blk ar15.

Id have a bunch of them if there wasnt the nfa, but if im paying a stamp, i would rather have at least decent quality. Theres a number of rifle cans available for not much more than what a kit can would cost.

What about serialized adaptors either DT or ASR whichever or hybrid if you prefer and then you could have have an 80% can after approval of course. @chance @permaneo vox whatcha think

That might get tricky, and for the same reason no manufacturer sells SBR ar15 lowers like ive seen people ask for. When you form 2 a weapon, you have to list caliber, length, and barrel length if applicable. An adapter and a lower dont really have any of those specs.

Also, if the adapters were successful im sure it would catch the attention of the ATF and push the proposed rule 29P into effect.
