Would anybody be interested in one? Something you could quickly throw over your brake to make the gun less obnoxious to shooters next to you. Some might find this handy if they have several hosts but only one specwar.

Im thinking something like this Griffin one, and around this price. But it would be round, not triangular.

I know SiCo has one, but its $145 for just a short piece of tube. It doesnt even come with the mount or the muzzle brake. So you would need to spend another $320 on an ASR Maad mount to put their shield on your gun.

If theres interest, I can start getting some designs together to vote on. I know its something Ive been wanting for a while.

I'm the loser who bought the sico blast shield.

it comes ready to mount on my specwar flash hiders and brakes. but I bought one just to tame some of the noise from my sbrs when I'm not running a can.

I don't feel like it's a total ripoff...it works pretty well especially on the brake. lock up is rock solid. it could be cheaper though.

Oh, does their blast shield come with the mount? Their website just shows it being the little tube. Have any pictures of it?

no you have to buy the trifecta mounts for ~$70 which is necessary to mount a suppressor. let me go take some pictures.

note that the blast shield looks much better on my 10.5" sbr since the blast shield is partially covered by the rail. it looks awkward on the 12" setup above.

It looks good!

I dont see it as an option on their site where it comes with the specwar/ASR lockring mount thing. Maybe they dont make it like that anymore?

So you're going to make one? I'm interested but not as a blast shield although that's a plus. I'm more concerned damaging an expensive mount. Good idea!

on their website, you have to choose between asr or maad locking mechanism. if you have a specwar, you're probably going to want the asr. if you have a saker, you'll probably want the maad option, assuming you haven't converted your saker to use the cheaper asr system.

if you're going to make some custom blast shields, let me know. depending on the price I may be in for another one or two of them.

Oh ok. They should be more clear on the site. They say the MAAD mount it sold separately, so I assumed the ASR mount would be too. I guess I am wrong. I dont see it available through my Silencerco distributor, but I will send them an email monday. Depending on price, I may or may not make my own.

I could make mine accept the endcaps that they make too. So it would end up really reducing blast like a noveske pig.

Yeah, basically I think the real cost of producing these is in the ASR mechanism since the blast cap portion itself as pictured on the website is just a metal tube - more or less. I bought it with the intention of sending it back if it needed an additional part to mount to a trifecta flash hider (or brake). SiCo has excellent CS or so I've heard.

In my research prior to purchasing I found that there are members of another forum who believe that the horizontal grooves were made in the outside of the cap as a means to keep folks from using it as a base to construct their own form 1 silencers. Take that for what it's worth...
