Thus, the Marlin with it's sexy side eject capability, rigid flat-top receiver, and pistol grip. I'm terrible with leaf sights...I can't see shit with them. I know you can install an aperture, but fuck you...I'm getting the Marlin.

It's aesthetics to me. I personally favor the look of the 336. My Winchester was smooth as shit, but I couldn't mount a scope on it without going the side-mount route, and that's ehhh to me

Laufen does bring up a valid point, the Winny is much more thin and sleek, but I hunt with a 7400, so one more bulky stock won't hurt.

That's why you need a damn 336c with a scope!!! And a pistol grip to boot lol

400? I'm assuming we will be holding over about 6 feet? Hell, at 100 yards the front sight of most rifles covers a vertical foot of target.

I thought about that when I was clicking "post reply". Then said to hell with it, handloader is all over this thread; by the time I scroll to the top he has already replied. He must be on that fancy Google fiber optic jazz

Had the same one, from the 50's. Sold it when I was a teen. I'm set on the Marlin, besides I'm terrible with leaf sights anyway! I'm coming to load!

Variety is the spice of life! I have a bolt 308, and a semi 30-06, but something about the 336C draws me to it. It's a gorgeous gun...that's enough justification for me to get one. For a GA whitetail, it's still more than enough power within its range limitations.

I've heard the LR 140grs come apart and make a mess on the insides.

Sold! They are sweet, even better with a 24" bbl, but alas...I can't do the laminate/stainless style. I wish they would offer a 24" blue/walnut

I don't load nor know how. I plan to buy Core-Lokts for messing around, and LeveRevolutions for hunting.

I think I will pick one up. Top it with a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 and see what she does. If anything, it's definitely an heirloom quality rifle to pass down to mini-scand

True, but how often do you run into 7.62x39 rifles that AREN'T AK/SKS? There are bolts, break singles, break doubles, etc...but you don't come across them often in these parts. Then again, some of just like gramp's rifle.

You're goddamn right. Maple stocks are my favorite.

    The 30-30, reconsidered...

Of course you would. The new 94's do accept top mount scopes. I, for one, like the pistol grip vs the straight stock.

6bones or 3bones (forgot his name) has a JM 336 for sale with a lot of goodies. (ammo, case, optic, sling, etc). I'd hop on it but it's a birch stock instead of the walnut.

-sorry no tacticool, suppressor, Tier 1 loadout, operator shit here- I don't know why, but I want a 336C chambered in 30-30. It seems as though Remington has finally got their shit together and the new 336's are a lot smoother and seem to be getting good reviews. Their first round, mehh not so...
