For this evening I decided to smoke a REAL H. Up man out on the deck since it is so very nice outside...i am sipping some Angels Envy bourbon and enjoying the quiet... .

I have been bad about it lately. I always have a gun with me but increasingly not on me. I keep it in my desk drawer when I'm at work which is most of the day M-F. I put on my VP9 yesterday for the first time in a while and man was it uncomfortable.....guess I need to get used to it again.

Cool...a $2300 AR 15 shot 20k rounds...while impressive, it's also a bit silly. If a $900 Colt does the same I'd be impressed. For $2300 one could buy a WASR And 7400 rounds and never shoot it out.... ARs are far more reliable when kept wet than given credit for, no doubt there. Start banging...

Well...technically it isn't a myth. Modern guns are built better and more importantly we learned how to run them because of the very real problems the M16 had in its early days.

From my limited research it seems that if you have the extra cash and like the way it looks along with easier cleaning go for it. It still needs to be lubed despite whatever the hype says. Colt used to say the AR didn't need to be cleaned...

Agreed. 1 tin of 7n6 is exactly 36 mags. Anything after the first 1-2 mags means that each mag afterwards exponentially heightens your chances of not making it to the next mag.

Originally intended for a non-shooter but now this has morphed into something else.... I agree, standard AK sights are horrid. Tech sights help, but make the gun far more difficult to disassemble. I don't know if that trade off is worth while...being that tech sights replace a part of the fun...

I can't see many scenarios where shooting past 300 yards would be possible even in the suburbs where I live.

I want to as well...only the bank account is my limiting factor. I'll likely grab my AK105 clone, 8 mags in my belt pouches, a tin of ammo and a "cleaning" bag.

Very quickly...which is why I still prefer 5.45. It's cheaper than anything and has the ballitics of 5.56...better IMO. Hard to find around here? yes. But we have the internet. I can stack more 5.45 for the same money...

Then it's a question of whether said AR likes to eat Wolf....from what I understand it's a crapshoot that leans toward the negative..

When it comes to AKs that really isn't typically a good thing. That's an interesting conversation to have though...methinks I will start a thread.

OK lets kick it up a notch.....AR in 5.56 vs AK 74 in 5.45....or AK in 7.62 vs AK in 5.45

I must admit I figured this thread would be solidly in AR favor.
