They're too fragile and too bright. I tried to use them for pheasants and quail growing up, but I kept looking at the damn bright dot and not concentrating on the birds enough. A black front sight post, or a brass bead on a shotgun is perfect for me.

Does anyone foresee an issue with putting WInchester Super X 44-40 deer loads (200 grain in the neighborhood of 1190fps) through an 1873 Winchester? I've shot the gun with cowboy loads, but not with standard pressure stuff. I can't imagine it would be any issue, just looking for a second...

I wouldn't mind trying that 10 either, I just hate the fiber optic front sights on all of their guns, and I don't want to dump $100 into a RIA 1911 right off the bat.

The extra case capacity could allow for the use of heavier bullets though. As a civilian, there aren't many types of threats or applications that le wouldn't encounter. Also, I love hunting with those rounds, and an extra 200 fps here and there doesn't hurt.

It REALLY helps endurance in short 3-6 milers too. Longer runs simply allow you to go harder for longer on the short runs.
