Recipe Equipment for the perfect kitchen

I like everything I've seen listed so far- but I'm going to add all the small stuff like strainers/sifters, a micro plane, good spatulas, and silicone baking sheets. And some Nordicware baking pans.

Freeze Dried / MRE survival food reviews

I was thinking about the canned liquid drinks- didn't know they made a powdered option. Although now I'm thinking about the Carnation instant breakfast type drinks. Those and some powdered milk should be good for years.

Freeze Dried / MRE survival food reviews

Actually, I fully agree with you. Two pharmacists that I used to work for in high school also fully agree with you. They said the FDA's date has no basis in physical testing on most things. Drugs are stable compounds for the most part- some do turn bad. But most powders and tablets are very...

Just occurred to me today- but what's the shelf life on Ensure and similar nutrition shakes? I know they do come in metal cans at least- possibly an option.

    Public toilets?

Eventually ours was too old to get into bed by himself. Despite my wife's request, I did not build a handicapped ramp up into the bed.

    Public toilets?

Yeah, beagle dog had a crate too- that was his space and he would mostly lay in it when he was ready to go to sleep during the day. Nights, he wanted in the bed. And would normally be sneaky about it- once I was good and asleep, I think he'd jump up there. And I'd wake up to a dog ass 3" from...

    Public toilets?

I remember. We had an indoor beagle. I will say that a dropped piece of food didn't last long. And that dog should have been nicknamed swiffer. However, for the small amount of food he picked up, we got a pound of dog fur on the floor. And he constantly tried to wiggle his way into the bed...

    R.I.P. Ammo.....not so much....

I predict entertainment will happen here... and I don't think I'd know the what's what until I tested it myself- it seems there'd be lots of variables.

    Public toilets?

Oh- so the weather channel is working at your house? And reason #231 not to have a dog in the house.

    Public toilets?

Yeah- it's now the weather related show channel, with a crawl at the bottom that tells you one or two things about your area.

Just saw this thread... I'll post the recipe tonight once I have it in front of me- otherwise I'd just be guessing.

    Socks!

Tried to buy a pair of Smart Wool at Academy today. They had a thick cushion trekking sock, but only in a large. That's what they called a 9 to 11.5 USA Mens shoe size- not going to work. I've got to find someplace to order an XL online. Shouldn't be hard to find.

Looks like I built a AR 9 now......

Thanks! I was impressed with it at the range. Pistol caliber carbines are really fun toys- I've got to get some more time in with this one.

    Gear you swear by.

Glad to hear this- I've got to replace a busted set of Radians (DO NOT EVER BUY RADIANS PRO-AMPS) and was between the Peltor and Howard Leight brands. Brands to believe in: Bic lighters Kershaw pocket knives ESEE fixed blades and I've got to try some Smart Wool socks.

Freeze Dried / MRE survival food reviews

Heck, give a couple a try and see if you like them. Maybe rotate them in as snacks or a lite breakfast/lunch when you cannot get away from work. I thought the Sierra trail mix (if I'm right about that name) were ok for everyday consumption. Not my food of choice, but edible- almost enjoyable...

Freeze Dried / MRE survival food reviews

I'm really not sure on the expiration dates, but given their fairly "loose" packaging, I'm not sure that they would have a long shelf life. Not sure, but I think those pouches were just plastic- i.e. no foil liner. And the Cliff crowd isn't looking for longer term storage- just convenient...
