Talk me out of a PTR91...

Thanks, I'll certainly be doing more research if I decide to buy; with everything posted thus far, I've added a bunch of check-off boxes to the list. Again, I appreciate the info, sir :yo:

Talk me out of a PTR91...

This is what my GoogleFu divulged: (Hijacked from http://blog.cheaperthandirt.com/faqs/hk-91cetme-faqs/) "HK 91/G3 and CETME Parts Compatibility Guide The following HK 91/G3 parts are interchangeable with the older CETME rifle: Backplate or Complete recoil Assembly (minor fitting to the...

Talk me out of a PTR91...

Thanks for the correction, I just found this: "The HK91 was designed after WWII by German and Spanish engineers at Spain’s CETME arms plant. The original rifle was called the CETME rifle and was chambered in the 7.62×51 CETME cartridge. This round was identical to the 7.62×51 NATO cartridge...

Talk me out of a PTR91...

Interesting, I was not aware of that; I was under the (obviously false) impression that the Cetme was a copy, my apologies for the bad info. I do not know if the PTR has non-interchangeable parts, i'll have to dig into that when I get a chance

Talk me out of a PTR91...

Both the PTR91 and Cetme C308 are copies of the HK G3 / HK91 (G3=FA, 91=SA), but the copies have their quarks

Talk me out of a PTR91...

I'm leaning that way, I don't want it to become as heavy as my LR308 was; with a 24" barrel and PRS stock, that damn LR could only be shot prone

I kinda have a soft spot for the HK clones, I had a C93 that I picked up from @Shrek926, wish I would have never traded it now

By the way, how's the eye relief on that diamondback, is it as advertised?

Talk me out of a PTR91...

Some of us have to actually work for our money ... ;) I was contemplating a 3x9 since this will just be a plinker, but I would like the ability to reach out further if given the chance. I had a Millet LRS a few years back, but it was just too damn big ... and it started sucking beyond 14X

Meh, I want good glass, but $1800+ is a bit out of my budget; was thinking a decent SWFA or Vortex rzr ..... Might only be able to affor a Millet unless I save up

Talk me out of a PTR91...

Yeah, definately want a mount, which brings me to my next quandary, gotta figure out what glass will go best with it!
