The Ruger MKIII as a suppressor host. Is it really that much worse than something like a Smith M&P22? I don't want a scaled down, retrofitted duty pistol chambered in 22. I really want a gun designed around the cartridge. Since the threaded Smith Victory isn't yet available...I'm stuck with Ruger, or I could just wait (not my strong suit).

The MKIII is an OK host. They are just a pain in the ass to take apart and put back together, and they have a really loud action.

don't get me wrong. People use the hell out of them. They are probably the most used 22 handgun host. They are just louder than other options and a pain in the ass to take down and put back together.

They are fun to shoot suppressed. Louder action than the M&P and harder to clean. If you shoot 1911 on a regular basis go with it it will feel better. I bought the fullsize M&P for ergonomics and its easy to clean. Only thing I did custom was put the stock M&P 3-dot sights on it.

what is your favorite host that isn't a pot-metal 3rd world 1911 clone?

Just try one and see if you like it. I bought the 22/45 Lite without shooting it first. If I had shot it, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

The Ruger Mark series rimfire pistol was the first "bag-O-gun" I got to put back together. The guy took the grips off without knowing they hold shit together. It was downhill from there and he just dumped it all in a ziploc bag. I definitely learned alot about Rugers that day getting it back together.
